Danfoss's Unveil of TNS385 Centrifugal Compressor

Unveiled globally at MCE 2026 Milan International HVAC&R Exhibition, Danfoss's brand
new TNS385 R600a (isobutane) natural refrigerant centrifugal compressor has officially
obtained full-scenario EU energy efficiency and compliance certification on April 21, 2026,
gaining complete market access across the European region.

The Danfoss TNS Turbocor Compressor operating with R600a presented at MCE 2026
Full Technical Specifications
Model: TNS385 (Danfoss Turbocor series)
Refrigerant: R600a (Isobutane), low-GWP natural hydrocarbon refrigerant ODP = 0,
GWP ≈ 3, zero fluorinated greenhouse gases, PFAS-free
Cooling Capacity: 385 kW nominal rating under standard HVAC working conditions;
peak capacity up to 500 kW optimized for high-temperature chilled water conditions in
data center cooling scenarios.
Core Technology: Full oil-free magnetic bearing centrifugal structure. Active magnetic
levitation bearings achieve contactless rotor operation with zero mechanical friction.
The entire system eliminates all lubricating oil, oil pipelines, oil filters, and oil
maintenance components, completely resolving performance degradation, heat
transfer loss, heat exchanger fouling caused by lubricant in traditional compressors.
Drive System: Integrated high-efficiency permanent magnet variable-speed motor with
full digital variable frequency control, realizing stepless capacity adjustment across full
load range.
Complete EU Certification Qualifications
The compressor has passed comprehensive EU compliance certifications covering all
dimensions: Eco-design Directive energy efficiency standard, CE certification (PED
Pressure Equipment Directive, LVD Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive), refrigerant
safety compliance, and European F-Gas regulation adaptation. It meets all regulatory
requirements for commercial cooling equipment circulation, installation and project
bidding in all EU member states.
Core Advantages
100% oil-free operation: No lubricant-related performance attenuation during full service
life, minimal maintenance cost and long service life.
Ultra-low environmental impact: Fully compliant with EU stringent restrictions on high-
GWP synthetic refrigerants and fluorinated substance bans.
Dual-scenario capacity adaptability: Covers both large-scale commercial central air
conditioning and high-density data center cooling demands.
Superior energy efficiency: Over 40% annual energy saving compared with traditional
screw compressors of equivalent capacity, supporting corporate carbon neutrality
transformation.
Target Applications
Large-scale data center chilled water units, commercial central air-conditioning systems
for high-end buildings (shopping malls, office buildings, hotels), industrial process cooling
and district cooling stations in Europe.
Market Impact
Against the backdrop of EU phasing out high-GWP synthetic refrigerants, the TNS385 has
become the preferred upgraded solution for large-capacity cooling equipment in
European market. It consolidates Danfoss's leading position in global high-end oil-free
magnetic bearing compressors, and drives the global HVAC&R industry upgrading towards
oil-free, natural refrigerant and ultra-high efficiency low-carbon technology.
